ISO 22000:2005 Crash Program To Assist the tea industry
(Factories, blending & bagging operations, warehousing, exporters, machinery and other support services)
Sri Lanka Association for Quality (SLAQ) had drawn up a plan to assist the tea industry including the support services to develop food safety management systems (FSMS) based on ISO 22000:2005 standard for seeking accredited certification within the shortest possible time.
This program will cover all segments of the chain i.e. processing factories, warehousing, exporters, tea machinery & packaging.
The special features of this project are that all SLAQ consultants are;
Fully aware of international regulations and specific aspects such as chemical contaminants, pesticide residues, and microbiological criteria.
Operating under the guidance of an expert panel, adhering to clear guidelines and standard fee structure to harmonize these operations at a very much-reduced cost.
Competent in auditing with IRCA qualifications and knowledge in the tea industry,
Operate under a strict code of conduct with access to dispute resolution, and
Access to SLAQ backup services for an agreed period at a nominal fee will be available to clients.
Special effort will be made to minimize unnecessary expenditure on infrastructure development. Those with adequate infrastructure facilities will be immediately considered for documentation & developing systems and guided to seek certification within 1 – 2 months after developing the system.
Depending on the extent of infrastructure development required others could be guided to receive certification within 6 months.
Industry is advised that with the introduction of ISO 22000:2005, certifications on this standard will be well recognized internationally.
